About

Physics. Planetary science.
And a curiosity for both.

Dr. Elizabeth A. Silber · Physicist & planetary scientist

I am a physicist and planetary scientist, a Senior R&D Scientist at Sandia National Laboratories, and an Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at Western University.

My research connects shock-wave physics with the study of planetary atmospheres and surfaces. I combine theory, numerical simulations, and field observations to investigate atmospheric entry, infrasound, and impact crater formation on rocky and icy worlds.

Research across disciplines.

I lead collaborative research in acoustic sensing, shock propagation, and the characterization of energetic events. My work ranges from modeling planetary impacts with iSALE to observing meteors and spacecraft reentries with acoustic and seismic instruments.

Before joining Sandia, I worked as a Defence Scientist at Defence Research and Development Canada and held postdoctoral fellowships at Brown University and Western University.
